Murder of Fr K J Thomas, Bangalore

Now it has been more than a week since fr  k j Thomas  of Bangalore Pontifical major seminary was found murdered. but though it is more than a week there has not been any clear lead in this case. and  though premature, this case is very less likely to be proved, because the police suspect it as  a insider job. i believe the main hands behind this heinous act is of clergymen only. they must have  got it done with the help of some paid killers. because there was a priest in the adjacent room of the victim at the time of murder and he is said to have heard some loud noise from the room of fr k j , but he didn't even bother to come out of the room to inquire what was happening. and he was the one to find the body in the morning  and informed others. There was heavy rain in that area of Bangalore on the previous night. but there was no any foot prints or mark of mud, sand or shoe anywhere, of anyone come inside from outside after the rain, so we have to believe the killer was brought  and accommodated on the previous day itself by the conspirators.  And the reason for murder is said to be power struggle by and among clerics. because the slain priest was from Kerala  who was reappointed as the rector of major seminary for second term   which the local clerics could not tolerate. Bangalore is a place where there are a lot of pro kannada activists and activities among Christians.. a person whom i met some months back told that the bishop is under pressure mainly from priests. in Bangalore speaking Catholics are dominated by konkani speaking as they are more in number and financially sound. and he said if the clerics want to get anything done  and if the bishop didn't allow it ,the clerics would catch hold of pro kannada activists and policians to politicize the issue. . A priest, recently after this murder told me,that the post of major seminary rector is as important and powerful as the post of bishop. there must have been many aspirants for that post.  though it is premature saying the culprits are clerics only it is not negligible and all the circumstantial evidence say so.  And if  and as the culprits are clerics, the fact will never come out. bishop will be forced to bury the case half way  otherwise he knows one day he also will meet with a premature and untimely  death.  Another death  which went undetected and less heard  is the death or murder of one fr james mukalel  from thalassery arch diocese who died at belthangady diocese in july 2009 under mysterious circumstances. his naked dead  body was found  on the road side near his two wheeler  in the morning. he was said to have had an affair with a girl who was minor  when he was the parish priest in the same place where he died and with whom he continued the relation even after the transfer from there.. though the police arrested the brother and father of the girl they were let off . though there are many theories and speculations  about his death the truth will never come out.( some say he was killed by the family members of the girl  and some say he died of heart attack due to the strain of repeated intercourse). because if the truth comes out many blemish also will  come out along with that. so the diocese authorities must have suppressed the inquiry by bribing them,.   if the  killers were outsiders definitely there would have been huge hue and cry over the tragedy and the victims would have been declared and glorified  as martyrs or saints.  so let us hope or have a pipe-dream that  at least in this truth will come out one day.  binoy mevada  puttur d k.
